rewriting genesis in my image
after Joanna C. Valente
my bones are chipping
flecks of me lay scattered
on dirty carpet
i haven’t noticed
if my breathing
is lighter or heavier
my lungs are empty bags
collapsing under ribs
i morph into eve
become a mother goddess
an agender creation
i form adam from a loose molar
they become a saint in my mouth
