I Want You To Have This Jewel
(from Max Ritvo)

I do not think I’ll pass into light,
only that I will unspool and become again
the tribe of snakes I once comprised.
My snake mouth will open
like giving hands, revealing at last
the actual stone I carried all this way.

Is this the shape of death?
This gem, its ridges.
